Pasadena TRAVEL GUIDE for Families

Sharing is caring!

My family and I moved to Pasadena 5 months ago and we love our new city so much. I was born and raised in Los Angeles so I was always familiar with this city and visited it many times, but had never lived here until now. What I love most about Pasadena is that we live in a quiet, beautiful neighborhood that does fun things weekly like movies in the park, and snow days during the winter where they bring snow into the playground for the kids to play and sled in- it’s a big city with a small town feel.

Because there is so much to do here, I thought it would be fun to dedicate a post to fun things to do with the whole family in Pasadena! I highly recommend a visit here!

Kidspace Museum. Kidspace Museum is one of the best kids’ museum you can find. It is a wonderful place for children to learn, grow, and explore. There are things to climb, bugs to see, bikes to ride, water play areas to splash in, roller coasters to build, and SO much more. Adults and kids are $10 each and the first Tuesday of every month is family night which means free entry!

21 choices

21 Choices. 21 Choices is on Colorado Blvd in Old Town Pasadena and is seriously the best frozen yogurt you’ll ever have. Think Coldstone, but with homemade, fresh yogurt. There are new flavors daily and more mix-ins than you could possibly imagine.

Pasadena City Hall. Recognize this gorgeous building? It’s the City Hall of Pawnee used in Parks And Recreation. But really it’s just Pasadena City Hall, a gorgeous building that is fun for the whole family to explore together! The Pasadena Library is right next door which is also a beautiful historic building definitely worth checking out.

Colorado Blvd Shopping. You can’t come to Pasadena without doing some serious shopping. Colorado Blvd has so many shops, both chains and mom and pop stores that all offer amazing finds! Plus it’s also full of wondering dining experiences. Urth Café has some of the best coffee around and Juice Farm is a great option for healthy dining goers.

iPic Theaters. iPic theater is located on Colorado Blvd. This is a movie experience like you’ve never seen before! You can order food and drinks while you watch your movie, pillows and blankets are provided, and the seats recline! You’ll never watch a movie in a regular theater again!

Pasadena Playhouse

Pasadena Play House. Catch a live play while you’re viewing this wonderful city. You can check out the Pasadena Play House website for what shows are currently showing, tickets, and more! The theater is located in the heart of Old Town Pasadena in a gorgeous historic building.

Norton Simon Museum. This gorgeous museum is full of European art. Adults are $10 and children under 18 are free. Be sure to check the website to see current exhibitions.

The bunny museum
The Bunny Museum

The Bunny Museum. This sweet bunny museum has a love story behind it. Every day a couple gave each other a bunny gift and it got added to this ever growing museum that houses the world’s largest bunny collection (fake bunnies of course). You must make advanced reservations in order to view them. This place was also voted the #1 weirdest museum recently!

The Huntington Library. The Huntington Library has Japanese gardens and the most gorgeous tea room. The library has a collection of rare books and manuscripts, there is a gorgeous collection of art, and the lush gardens are a great place for kids to explore! Adult admission is $20 on weekdays and $23 on weekends. There is also free day on the first Thursday of every month.

Magical Playground
Magical Playground

Magical Playground. This is a great place for kids to play where you don’t even have to clean up the mess! Kids can play here all day long for $9. There’s an eating area as well as free wi-fi for the parents! Basically like a cleaner, cooler, and cheaper version of Chuck E Cheese.

If you’ve ever been to Pasadena before or if you live in the area, what would you add to the list? Leave us a comment and share!
