Christina Fairman

Christina lives in Northwest Illinois with her husband, daughter, and two English Springer Spaniels. Before becoming a reluctant stay-at-home mom, she worked in a variety of customer-service-oriented jobs while dreaming of living in the lap of luxury as a housewife. Unfortunately, having a child threw a wrench in Christina's plan to do nothing but eat bonbons while lounging in the Jacuzzi reading all day. Now, she spends her time looking for fun activities and crafts for her daughter and easy-to-prepare meals for her family, while trying not to land the kid in therapy when she grows up. Christina volunteers at her local library, and does both volunteer and paid work as a sexuality educator. She loves to read, and to learn about--and share--new products and resources.

Up until about six months ago, my daughter refused to eat chicken nuggets. She still only nibbles at French fries. She doesn’t do any breaded meat (aside from the above-noted nuggets) and won’t touch anything made of white potatoes. She also won’t eat burgers. And don’t even try to pass off buttered noodles as a …

Hello, dear readers! If any of you happen to be my friends or relations, you might want to stop reading now because we’re about to veer into TMI territory. You’ve been warned. So, while I was pregnant, I read all the “things they don’t tell you” articles and books. I knew that there was a …

My daughter loves movies. She has since she was very, very young. Lest you think she has a general love for screens, she self-regulates her iPad use and has no patience for television shows. She’s just started getting into classic cartoons over the past few months. (Inappropriate? Probably yes. But I grew up watching them …

When my daughter started preschool, I was both intimidated by my first school shopping experience and very excited because I love office supplies the way some people love shoes. I totally marked myself as a first-time parent when, during the classroom orientation, I asked the teacher where I could find the supply list so I …

I came of age in the 1990s, during an explosion in pop culture’s focus on Reducing, Reusing, and Recycling. Since then, the idea of throwing away a soda can or a piece of paper is appalling. I mean, who doesn’t provide a mixed-stream recycling bin anymore?! (Of course, this explosion coincided with the rise of …
