UPPAbaby has finally done it! They have finally introduced a full-size double stroller. Yes, they have had the Rumbleseat for the VISTA for years but since it didn’t recline and couldn’t fold with the stroller, many parents didn’t consider that a full-size double stroller. They looked at it as an add-on jump seat at best. Don’t get me wrong, I used the Rumbleseat with my boys and really liked it but that is because I loved my VISTA and wasn’t ready to give it up when I needed a double.
But after all these years (and I’m sure some inspiration from the other brands launching the versatile strollers that transform from single to double), UPPAbaby has launched the new 2015 VISTA with the brand new, redesigned Rumbleseat. Truthfully, this new one doesn’t resemble the old one at all!
Now that we have teased you enough about the new VISTA that turns into a double stroller with the new and improved Rumbleseat, that isn’t what we are covering today. Since there is SO much to cover on the new VISTA, we are breaking it into two posts/videos. Today we are covering the 2015 VISTA as a single and all the changes that they made to the stroller.
The VISTA seat is basically the same as the previous models with its 50 lb weight capacity and measuring 12 1/2″ wide with a 20″ seat back and a measurement of 24″ from seat back to canopy. The adjustable, 5-point harness keeps your little one safely in the seat and the adjustable footrest keeps them comfy. The six position reclining seat is easy to move with one hand and the entire seat can reverse so that your child can parent-face or face out at the world.
The baby bumper bar has been modified for 2015 and no longer has the zip off cover because the actual bumper bar is now made of an easy-to-wipe-clean material. No more foam covered bumper bar on the VISTA!
The basket under the seat is still the ginormous VISTA basket that we love, but now it is even easier to get into with a fold down back. We love that you can access this basket from every angle including from the front of the stroller, and it sports a few pockets on the back to keep loose essentials from rolling around all over the place.
They have left the canopy the same because “If it ain’t broke, why fix it?” It’s still the huge, full-coverage canopy with large pop-out sun visor that sports a large peek-a-boo window on top with magnetic closure cover.
The UPPAbaby VISTA has always been one of the best strollers for taller parents and it still is. The telescoping handle adjusts from 40″ to 43″ ground to handle.
WHEELS & FRAME
2015 brought us new wheels and a newly redesign frame for the VISTA. The frame is now made out of magnesium and aluminum and has a sleeker look. The wheels are no-puncture, foam core rubber wheels which mimics the ride of air-filled tires without every having to worry about getting a flat. The wheels are 11 1/2″ in the rear (with a one-touch brake) and 8″ in the front. The front are swivel wheels with the ability to lock straight for all-terrain use. Plus, the shock-absorbing front and rear wheel suspension definitely gives baby a smooth ride.
The 2015 VISTA also sports a new fold. This one is the same as the popular UPPAbaby Cruz fold where you just have to lift two levers on the sides of the handlebar and the stroller folds down by pushing the handlebar down. We found it is a much easier fold than the previous VISTA models. The stroller has a standing fold which is appreciated, and weighs in just over 27 lbs which makes it an average weight for a full-size, full-featured stroller.
The VISTA comes with a newborn bassinet (and no, you cannot buy it without the bassinet!) that has also been modified. The new bassinet has been tested and approved for overnight sleeping, sports an extendable, SPF 50+ drop-down sunshade, a removable, breathable mattress pad and a vented base for breathability. The lining on the bassinet now zips out for easy cleaning which is a good thing because it is a white lining.
The VISTA can transform into a travel system with the UPPAbaby Mesa infant car seat. We love this travel system combination because the Mesa has a one-press button on the handle for easy removal from the stroller frame with just one hand. On most other stroller travel systems you need two hands, so this one is brilliant.
The UPPAbaby VISTA 2015 is stocked with new features and modifications that makes it even better than it was before, but that comes at a price. The retail price of the VISTA increased to $819-$859 (remember the new Rumbleseat is an additional purchase) depending on the color option you choose. It’s definitely a luxury price tag for this luxury stroller, but with all those features, it’s one of the best out there.
