Baby Gizmo Spotlight Review: phil&teds Poppy High Chair

There is a new high chair on the block and this one is from phil&teds. Keeping in mind those busy, modern parents who may be short on space and time, phil&teds has introduced the compact and super easy to clean poppy high chair.

With what this super lightweight chair (weighs only 8.8 lbs!) lacks in bells and whistles, it makes up for it in its easy to clean and store design. The seat has an innovative Aerocore pad that is not only waterproof and hypo-allergenic but dishwasher-safe as well. Since most parents don’t have tons of extra time to scrub a high chair between uses, we love that the seat pad and seat itself has no cracks or crevices for food to hide making clean up a breeze with this high chair.

There is a 5-point harness and a crotch bar (aka safety bar) to keep your child safely in the seat. We have to warn you though that the 5-point harness is different and may take some getting used to but once it is buckled we doubt that any toddler can undo it.

The dishwasher-safe tray is large to give your little eater plenty of space and can be removed by pushing a button on the crotch bar. The footrest is non-adjustable but we do appreciate that it is included to keep our child’s legs from dangling.

Since the seat does not recline, this high chair is recommended from 6 months to three years old. When your toddler has outgrown the use of a high chair with a tray, we love that the Poppy transforms into a “My Chair” for 3 to 5 years old (44 lbs) by removing the tray, crotch bar and half of the legs. The four legs are each made up of two metal bars that fit into each other and to turn it into the “My Chair”, so all you have to do is remove one of the bars to make it a shorter chair that is easy for toddlers to get into. We love products that have an extended life so a high chair that works as a sturdy toddler chair is thumbs up in our book!

For those parents with a small kitchen or who like to store the chair between uses, the Poppy breaks down easily for a very compact storage. All you have to do is pop off the legs and footrest and you can easily store the seat, tray and legs in a pantry or closet.

Overall, the Poppy is a simple high chair that not only looks cool but gets the job done. It is easy to clean, has a large tray, can be broken down for storage and has an extended use as the “My Chair”. For us that is a win for a high chair!

The phil&teds Poppy is available in lime, cranberry and bubblegum blue and retails for $119. To see the Poppy up close and personal with an 18 month old and 3 ½ year old in the seat, watch our Baby Gizmo video below:

I'm wondering if the soft material of the chair is going to absorb colors of the food and get with a big stain...but I can't find any review in the web, just reviews like yours that doesn't get to that point. :(
