This holiday season brings a fun anniversary … it’s the 10th year of Small Business Saturday!
That’s right! Way back in 2009, American Express birthed the concept of shopping small on a specific day of the holiday season. Since, the concept has grown far and wide, because, indeed, putting our dollars into small businesses makes a huge difference. And, it’s something we can all so easily be part of.
So, mark your calendar for November 30, 2019 (the day after Black Friday) and intentionally shop small!
Start your day at a local coffee shop – they work so hard and appreciate every order! Wind your way to a downtown toy store or boutique – every item has been curated just for you! Grab lunch with the girls at a one of a kind restaurant while you’re out and end your day browsing one of the below small business that have online offers.
I can personally vouch for each of these shops. I’ve ordered before and love not only the products but the customer service. Some are one man gigs, others have upwards of 50 employees (still so small in the grand scheme of business!), but I can promise you that when an order alert pops in their inbox, they do a happy dance.
Dollars spent at the mall just aren’t special. They aren’t appreciated. And, as much as I love Amazon and the speed of their delivery, the impact of what I spend there is just so … corporate. I want to spend wisely. I want to shop intentionally. Shopping small on Small Business Saturday is the perfect opportunity to give a gift in the form of a present as well as a gift of my support to some of the amazing small businesses out there.
My sister introduced me to Made by Mary this year and my rose gold birth flower necklace is one of my most worn pieces to date! It’s delicate, but sturdy, and absolutely gorgeous! Such a perfect gift for the lady in your life.
These leather earrings are everything! Lightweight and lovely! I think I’m up to four pairs of my own now with many more on my wish list.
If your daughter loves to twirl, add an Alice + Ames dress to her Christmas list. Dresses aren’t technically toys, but when you see all the joy her twirls bring, you know you purchased well.
These art subscription kits are perfect for everyone! With simple step by steps, anyone can become an artist! Plus, they just launched special kid boxes!
It’s not to early to think of spring! If you know a flower lover or gardener, they’ll love all the seeds, books, and tees from Floret.
Ok, so I don’t have anything from Little Sycamore, but I want something! It’s all BEAUTIFUL!
I reviewed this earlier this year and it’s still one of the best things my kids have every had to play with. Endless ideas, hours of fun!
Little girl? Get on the Little Poppy Co. train!
Of course, anything on Etsy supports a small biz hustle and I know you have friends working a MLM … every order literally grows their paycheck, don’t forget to support them too! Whether you spend hundreds or $20, you can be a hero with your dollars on Small Business Saturday!
