We were so honored to be asked to attend the World’s First Ever Baby Hippo Gender Reveal last week at Walt Disney World Animal Kingdom. This was a pretty spectacular moment for Animal Kingdom as this is the first baby hippo that has been born in the last 13 years at the park.
We arrived at Animal Kingdom before the park opened and the sun was up at 6:30am. It was surreal to see an empty Disney park before the crowds arrived.
Along with a couple other families, we boarded a safari vehicle and ventured out into the Safi River Valley—an uninhibited environment that resembles their home turf in Africa – to find out the gender and name of the new baby hippo.
The kids were super excited to be part of such a fantastic Disney event and it didn’t hurt that we were going to get to see a baby animal. Seeing baby animals is a perfect start to any day, right?
We arrived with a view of a rope bridge with two Animal Kingdom cast members holding the rolled up banner ready to reveal the gender and name of the adorable new hippo.
