DIY Finger Paints
My kids love to finger paint. They blow through jars of it like it’s nobody’s business. After spending a small fortune replacing our finger paints over and over, I decided to try making my own. I recently came across a few different homemade finger paint recipes, and after some trial and error, I finally found the perfect one.
DIY Finger Paint Recipe
Ingredients:
- 1/2 Cup Corn Starch
- 2 Cups Warm Water
- 1/2 Teaspoon Salt
- 3 Tablespoons of Sugar
- Food Coloring
Directions:
- Combine all the ingredients in a saucepan.
- Cook on low heat until warm and the mixture thickens.
- Let it cool and then pour into containers (I like to use empty baby food jars).
- Add food coloring and stir until blended.
Enjoy!
FUN IDEA:
Put finger paints in a ziploc bag and seal it tight. Let your child experiment with mixing different colors and making patterns in the paint using their fingers or a a baby spoon. It’s a great way to keep them entertained without a mess!
Are you supposed to stir this while it’s heating? It seems to be clumping on the bottom and is starting to look a bit like glue. What am I doing wrong? Help!
