I recently found out about a truly wonderful program for military families. SeaWorld Parks & Entertainment’s Waves of Honor gives all U.S. active duty military members, reservists, and National Guardsmen one free admission per year for themselves and up to three direct dependents to either SeaWorld (Orlando, San Antonio, or San Diego), Busch Gardens (Tampa or Williamsburg, VA), Adventure Island (Tampa), Water Country USA (Williamsburg), Sesame Place (Langhorne, PA), or Aquatica, SeaWorld’s Waterpark (San Diego).
Getting your complimentary tickets is easy. Just visit wavesofhonor.com and click “Click here to register.” You’ll need to fill out a form and indicate which park you’d like to visit. Then, print out your Waves of Honor vouchers and bring them to the theme park’s ticket booth on any day prior to the expiration date printed on the vouchers. (The vouchers are not valid for separate ticketed events including “Christmas Town” at Busch Gardens, “Howl-O-Scream” at Busch Gardens, and “A Very Furry Christmas” at Sesame Place). Be sure that everyone over age 10 has their military ID with them.
One great thing to note is that the active duty service member does not need to be present in order for his or her dependents to use the free vouchers. So if a soldier is deployed, his or her spouse can still treat the kids to a fun day at a theme park for free!
In addition to the regular program, Waves of Honor currently has a special offer valid until November 11, 2013 (Veteran’s Day). It allows all active duty military members who’ve already received free theme park tickets this year, as well as all veterans, to purchase as many as six single-day admission tickets at half price to SeaWorld (Orlando, San Antonio, and San Diego), Busch Gardens (Tampa and Williamsburg) and Sesame Place. Qualified service members and veterans must present their military ID and/or proof of service. Click here to purchase tickets.
As an Army spouse with firsthand experience of the many sacrifices military families make, I am incredibly grateful for the support of companies like SeaWorld Parks & Entertainment and for programs like Waves of Honor. It makes the hardships we face so much easier to handle when we know that people appreciate us!
