Keeping Baby Safe (GIVEAWAY)

This is a sponsored post and giveaway written on behalf of JPMA.

Welcoming a new baby into the family is one of the most amazing times in a new parent’s life. At Baby Gizmo, we strive to make the transition into parenthood that much easier with tips, reviews, videos and other information to help you shop smarter for baby gear. It’s not all about how well the high chair will blend in with your kitchen decor or how chic the stroller is that you will push or how adorable the bouncy seat is that your baby will rock out in – even though those seem pretty darn important sometimes. Safety should be at the forefront of everything you choose for your little one. With baby product recalls at what seems like an all time high, choosing products that are safe for our babies and using them correctly is important.

We know that parents are always looking for baby product safety information, and navigating all of the facts and figures out there can be overwhelming at times. We admit that we are not the crash testers! We leave that up to the professionals to deem if products are truly safe. Sure, we give you our opinion on everything baby, but we are happy that there are others who are dedicated to all things safety!

The Juvenile Products Manufacturers Association (JPMA) is an expert you need to know about! They are 100% committed to the safe selection and use of baby products. Remember even if you bought the safest product in the world, the way you use it and whether you use it correctly is the most important thing!

Let me back up a minute and tell you what JPMA is and why you should care. JPMA is a national trade organization representing 95% of the prenatal to preschool industry. They are making sure baby products are safe for you with their JPMA Certification. They represent 250 companies in the US, Canada and Mexico who manufacture, import and/or distribute infant products such as cribs, car seats, strollers, bedding, and a wide range of accessories and decorative items.

When a baby product has been “JPMA Certified”, it means that it has been tested by an independent facility and met the guidelines set by standards developer ASTM International. If you have been shopping for your baby, you have probably seen their JPMA Seal of Approval. JPMA isn’t stopping there though! They know it is all about education and awareness about the safe selection and use of products. In their commitment to reducing the number of nursery product related injuries, they have created The Baby Safety Zone. BabySafetyZone.org is a place for parents and caregivers to learn from safety experts, share experiences with each other in this crazy world we call parenthood!

Baby Safety Zone

The Baby Safety Zone is not only a great community for parents but also an information hub where they share expert knowledge in a way that is fun and engaging. No one wants to be lectured on safety, so we love that they are making safety fun in a nonjudgmental environment. Not only do they have great tips to help parents use their baby products in the safest ways possible, but they have quick videos on using baby products safety. You know how we LOVE video at Baby Gizmo.

Most of us don’t become parents for the first time and automatically know everything. As a matter of fact, none of us do. It’s a learning curve, and if we are armed with the right information, it is likely that we will be much safer parents. So once you watch our review videos on the baby products that appeal to you, jump on over to The Baby Safety Zone and get great tips on safety and how to use the products.

Most of the videos are less than 3 minutes (they must know how busy we all are!) and feature baby product safety tips on products such as infant swings, high chairs, placards, strollers, carriers, and more.

This one on stroller safety is one of our favorites.

In celebration of the new Baby Safety Zone website by JPMA, we are throwing a giveaway. Any reason to give something awesome away to one of our readers, right?!?
One lucky Baby Gizmo reader will win a $100 Amazon gift card to help stock up on things for baby. The winner can even get something for themselves – we won’t tell!
