Kristen Bell: The Woman We All Want To Be Mommy Friends With

Kristen Bell is the woman we all want to be mom friends with. She’s a famous actress, playing roles such as Eleanor in The Good Place, Veronica Mars, and what mom doesn’t recognize her voice in Frozen from the bazillion times our kids have made us watch that movie? But let’s be real—we will probably never get the chance to meet this snack-of-a-woman in real life so us mommas have to just dream about it. And who wouldn’t want her as your BMFF? (Best Momma Friend Forever…I just came up with that; dibs on copyright!)

Kristen is relatable, funny, and calls things as they are, in a world where it’s all too easy to be fake. I mean, just check out some of the things she has said over the years and tell me you don’t have the same struggles, thoughts, and victories? Celebrity or not, she’s a woman who knows exactly what you and I go through because along with being an overly talented bada**, she’s also a mom of two sweet daughters.

On her waking up: My current alarm clock is the blood-curdling screams that I wake up to. I bolt down the hallway thinking that someone’s fallen out of their crib or broken their arm or, I don’t know, drowning in the sink, and then they’re just like ‘Good morning, Mommy!’”

On needing caffeine just as much as the rest of us: “I try not to interact with my kids too much before I drink my matcha because I need to be caffeinated to be nice to anyone.”

On the overall craziness that is motherhood: “Every day when you’re raising kids, you feel like you could cry or crack up and just scream ‘This is ridiculous!’ because there’s so much nonsense, whether it’s what they’re saying to you or the fact that there’s avocado or poop on every surface.”

On the pain of being away from her baby: “I can’t look at her pictures today, because it hurts my feelings. I start wondering what she’s thinking, like, Where’s the girl with the blonde hair and the boobs?

On the post-baby body we all have, and why it’s good: “I like my Lincoln Leftovers because they’re proof I did something extraordinary. […] I gave life to my new BFF & she gave me a comical amount of midsection skin.”

On her least favorite part of parenting: “Super-early mornings. I’ll gladly take puke on my shirt or any amount of intestinal issues over those early wake-up calls.”

Ladies, this is just the TIP of the iceberg that is Kristen Bell. All you need to do to feel inspired about being your own kind of BA mom is to take a quick gander through her Instagram feed. It’s filled with reality, comedy, love, respect for others, and just the right amount of abusive (kidding) banter about her husband, Dax Shepherd. All in all, she‘s a woman we’d like to personally know but until then, lets all strive to live a little more like her within our own mom circles. Let’s reach out to each other and be honest with each other. Let’s remove the mom shaming and the social media filters. We’re all just trying to do the best we can with our kids. And like Kristen says, “Be patient with yourself. Put on your gas mask first, because you’re useless to everyone else if you’re too stressed out. Know when to take a break.”
