Little Tikes Trampoline Review

My two year old son received the Little Tikes 3 foot trampoline for Christmas this year, and he couldn’t be happier! I wanted to share my  [parent] review after he’s been using it for a few weeks now.

I think there are two types of parents – those that get their kids a trampoline and those that don’t. My parents refused to get me a trampoline when I was a kid. They mostly worried about injuries, and didn’t want to even humor the idea. My husband grew up with a trampoline. He loved it as a kid, but now as a parent he was so worried about our kids having one. (Becoming a parent has transformed my husband from the cool, laid back, guy I dated in college to a total dork worrywart. I love him for it, and I know it’s happened to me too, but still. That’s a post for another time…)

The Little Tikes 3 foot trampoline is the perfect size for him. It seemed like a good compromise between my desire to get my son a trampoline and my husband’s desire to not allow my son to have any fun. (Kidding… kind of.) It is low to the ground, so it’s easy for him to get on and off it by himself. The three foot radius allows for a large jumping area relative to his size.

The assembly was very easy and quick, although it did require two adults to build it at one point. I am happy with the metal frame, and the fact that there are no springs (large elastics are used instead). The padding used on the frame isn’t thick, but seems substantial enough to protect my son in an accidental slip or fall.

The main reason I chose this trampoline in particular is because of the padded handle bar that my son can hold on to for stability. He can be a little bit careless (duh, he’s 2) and I felt like the bar would help keep him steady. He’s also a big rule follower, so he hasn’t really even tried to jump without holding on. Win.

It’s a great energy burner, which is especially helpful during winter when we are spending more time indoors. I’d be lying if I said I never popped him on here before dinner to tire him out!

The trampoline is very sturdy and well made. It is low to the ground, which I think helps keep it stable. Of course, children need to be supervised while jumping, as mistakes happen and they can fall or accidentally tip the trampoline over. But I feel confident saying this is a quality trampoline!

The trampoline is designed for indoor use only. It has a max weight limit of 55 pounds. It can be purchased at Target or Toys R Us (among other retailers).
