One Stroller, Two Strollers, Three Strollers…More?!

One Stroller, Two Strollers, Three Strollers…More?!

*knock knock knock* This meeting of Strollerholics Anonymous is now in session!

One thing that drew me to Baby Gizmo was the wide array of strollers I’ve been introduced to. But, that also meant I wanted a whole lot of strollers! I mean, seriously, how can you choose just ONE?

Back when I was researching strollers, I was looking for an all-in-one (but not going the traditional travel system route) stroller that I could use a car seat adaptor with. Then, as I was registering, I ended up with a travel system anyway. It served its purpose, but the toll it was taking on my back was killer and once my child switched to his convertible car seat, the “Black Cadillac,” as we liked to call it, was just too heavy for me. It took up an insane amount of space in our trunk and the tires were wearing fast since we walk practically every single day! Plus, I wasn’t ready to let my child “face the world” so I convinced my husband that it was time to look for a “lighter weight, reversible” stroller. Fast forward a few months, I’ve gone through a few and currently am keeping two in the house. In my hunt, I’ve come up with reasons (excuses) why you need at least two strollers:

Reason #1: You don’t need a full-sized stroller all of the time.

Sometimes you just want to jet in and out of places and fumbling with a 20lb+ stroller is just something you don’t want to do. Enter the ever handy umbrella stroller! It’s light, doesn’t take up a lot of space, quick to open and close, provides adequate shade and stops you from purchasing TOO much since you can’t overload it with too many bags (yes I know, we’re not suppose to hang items from handles on an umbrella stroller, but we’ll do it anyways!). Plus, for those of you who’ve ever used public transportation, having a stroller you can fold and unfold quickly is necessary!  Want to know some of our favorite picks for umbrella strollers?  Visit Baby Gizmo’s Top 5 here.

Reason #2: You jog/run!

Having a dedicated stroller just for those jogging days comes pretty handy. They’re equipped with amazing suspension and can tackle terrain like no other. There are plenty of A/T options that can fit the bill as your everyday/jogger stroller, but if you’re a serious jogger/runner, you’ll like having one designed for just that.  Visit Baby Gizmo’s Top Picks for Joggers here.

Reason #3: You have a “sometimes” rider

Little kids legs get tired. And maybe they don’t want to take advantage of a ride-on board and would prefer to sit. Luckily, there are quite a few strollers embracing the “single to double” trend these days, but for those long outings, a dedicated double is great! Of course, you could always babywear and still push a stroller, but unfortunately, I’m sure there are others like me who can’t babywear for very long.

Reason #4: You are a STROLLERHOLIC

Yes, I know this isn’t a very good reason, but there are tons of people out there who are hooked on strollers as much as I am and love trying different ones out. There are so many differences between push, fabrics, harnesses, canopies, seat length…I really could go on and on and on, but I won’t; just check our recent posts on the ABC Expo!

There are perfectly good reasons why you DON’T need more than one. But one thing I will say is that I highly suggest you WAIT to buy your main stroller until you’re ready for one. That way, you can test them with your child and see how they like each one. Your child’s comfort is as important as the features that are for YOU!

…now if I could get my hands on a few of those strollers from overseas…

Ann Craig, Editor Ann is a first-time mom in Southern California who loves buying "usefully cute" items for her son (Okay, she just likes having the excuse to satisfy her shopaholic nature). It would be even better if he also found them useful, then maybe she could get away with more items! But alas, he's happier chasing after her phone or his daddy's sneakers. When Ann's not busy playing keep-away with her son, she enjoys strolls around Disneyland, bargain-hunting and talking about all things baby! (Luckily for her, there are at least 9 people at her job who just had or who are having a baby so there's always someone to talk to. Something's in the water!!)

I was at 5 plus a Chariot, but I am now at 4. 3 at my house and one at my moms. The storage situation is so bad that my Double Baby Jogger lives in my car. Yet there is still no perfect stroller. Why must there be 30+ pounds of gear for a 10lb baby?

I currently have 5 strollers plus a buggypod!

I am a stroller-aholic for sure. I owned 10 at one time… but with a singleton + twins that happens easily. Now i only have 3, which serve every purpose I need. Add on a toddler seat to the Trimode Twin, or the hitch hiker board, that makes it like I have 2 other strollers, too 🙂 I’m a fan of a stroller for every need! Thank God for Craistlist – making it possible to afford them all (and sell the ones I don’t need anymore!) 🙂

I’m a proud member of SA.

This sounds like me. I think I should join Strollerholics Anonymous 🙂
