The National Partnership for Women and Families is trying to send a serious message to Americans through this funny (and slightly strange) public service announcement regarding the lack of mandated paid leave for families. Check it out below.
According to the Pew Research Center, out of 41 nations, America is the only one to have a national requirement of paid maternity leave. Take a look at the chart below and their link here. Estonia gives a whopping 87 weeks of paid family leave!
Let’s talk about that for a minute: how much less stress would we have if we could bond with our newborn/infant/toddler if we knew that we didn’t need to rush back to work? Would breastfeeding success rates increase? Could it help with postpartum depression? If 40 countries can offer it, why can’t we?
