Angelina Knows Good Diaper Bag
A British company, Storksak was started in 2003 by Melanie Marshall and Suzi Bergman with the aim of designing fashionable and functional products for parents.
Sure, Angelina Jolie carries a Storksak, but we wanted to see the hype ourselves. When the bag arrived, our first thought was that with the contrast stitching and gold hardware, the bag was simple, but very classy. Available in either black or chocolate brown, it’s a nice, chic alternative to all the loud, crazy patterns that diaper bags come in these days.
The Emily Diaper Bag is a soft nylon, medium-sized shoulder diaper bag that we found is a perfect size for everyday. We love that the bag is lightweight so when we pack it to the brim with our babies’ travel needs, the bag won’t add much extra weight. The nylon fabric inside and out is really easy to wipe clean. We poured formula on the outside of the bag to test it and instead of absorbing the liquid, the formula literally ran off the side of the bag not leaving a single mark.
We found the adjustable strap comfortable, easy to adjust and great for taller and shorter moms.
The Emily bag comes with a padded changing pad that folds and velcros into a square for easy storage. We love that the changing pad is also nylon for easy clean up, and we applaud Storksak for making it larger than most – it measures 23 by 14 inches. When you don’t have to decide whether baby’s head or butt stays on the changing pad, you’ll agree with our excitement over the mat’s size.
The Emily bag isn’t short on pockets either. On the inside are two larger pockets, one for your cellphone, two smaller ones, and a zippered pocket for your valuables. There is also a detachable inner bag for things such as a small bag of wipes or makeup. On the outside of the bag are two zippered pockets and our personal favorite — dual side zip bottle pockets that are thermo-insulated and will keep fluids warm or cold for up to 5 hours. These side bottle pockets are fabulous because they are hidden on the inside of the bag with access on the outside with long zippers. These pockets not only keep your bottles insulated, but by not exposing the bottles, it keeps the bag from screaming ‘diaper bag’ and allows it to be used as a regular bag after your diaper bag days are over. The bottle pockets are a generous size; we could even fit our biggest, fattest sippy cups in them as well.
The bag has a leather bottom to protect it in case you set your bag on the only puddle in the parking lot, like we manage to do weekly. Like most designer purses, it comes with a large white storage bag to keep it clean and dust free when you need to store it away.
Now, that we have tested the Storksak Emily Diaper Bag, we understand the hype. The Storksak is an easy to clean, pocket loaded (our favorite is the bottle pockets), lightweight, chic, well-made diaper bag that retails for $168.
