Let’s talk about easy and delicious cake recipes! This recipe for Streusel Filled Coffee Cake has been passed down from my grandma to my mom to me, and I make it all the time. It is the perfect breakfast treat to serve with coffee and juice, but also makes a great dessert or snack. It takes a few steps but nothing too complicated with my easy and detailed instructions. You’re going to love eating this!
Ingredients for cake-
1 and a half cups flour
3 tsp baking powder
1/4 tsp salt
3/4 cups sugar
1/4 cup shortening
1/2 cup milk
1 tsp vanilla
Ingredients for filling-
1 cup brown sugar
4 tbsp flour
4 tbsp melted butter
4 tsp cinnamon
Blend all of your dry cake ingredients.
Then add all of your wet cake ingredients.
Mix everything together.
Put half of your cake batter in a greased square baking pan. I usually use a 9×9.
Mix up all of your filling ingredients.
Your filling should look just like the above picture when all mixed together.
Layer half of the filling on top of the batter.
Now, layer the second half of your cake batter on top of that.
And, for your last layer, put the remaining second half of your filling on top.
Bake in a 375 degree oven for 30 minutes. You may find that it’s not ready in 30 min and needs to cook for up to an additional 15 minutes longer.
Let it cool for 20 minutes before serving.

- half cup milk
- 1 tsp vanilla
- Ingredients for filling-
- 1 cup brown sugar
- 4 tbsp flour
- 4 tsp cinnamon
- 4 tbsp melted butter
- Mix all cake ingredients together.
- Mix all filling ingredients together, separately from the cake ingredients.
- Grease a 9×9 pan.
- Layer in this order:
- Half cake mix, half filling mix, half cake mix, half filling mix.
- Bake in a 375 degree oven for 30-45 minutes.
