Spotlight Product Review: The Learning Tower

learningtower1We found a great new product that will help your little ones participate in all the fun cooking and baking just in time for the holidays.  My 2 year old son always wants to be part of the action in the kitchen but in his excitement and curiosity has fallen off the kitchen stools a handful of times. He leans too far to grab something and down he goes! Doesn’t sound too safe, does it?

Kids want to help in the kitchen.  They want to stir, pour, mix and roll just like mom, dad or grandparents.  Chairs, bar stools and step stools can all be dangerous for little ones in the kitchen because they don’t have a railing.  The child leans a little too far to grab something and can possibly plummet to the ground.

The Learning Tower by Little Partners Inc. has become our answer to this problem.  It is a sturdy, non-tip, wood structure that allows the child to safely participate with parents, caregivers, and siblings by raising them to countertop height.  This Tower is made of the highest quality layered Birch (finished with durable, non-toxic, lead free finish) and features a wide 15”x18” platform surrounded by four-sided railings.  The railings provide support while your child climbs in as well as prevents falling when inside the Tower.

The platform that your child stands on inside the Tower is height adjustable with four positions to grow with your child from ages 18 months up to 6 years old.  The Tower has even been tested to hold up to 500 lbs.

The Learning Tower is a great product to allow your child to participate in all the kitchen activities.  We found that the structure is incredibly stable and tip-proof allowing our little testers to climb in with ease.  Our parent testers were even able to stand on the side without the Tower moving or tipping at all.  We love that the Learning Tower fits flush against your kitchen counter to bring your child as close to the action as possible.  It comes in 9 colors to match your kitchen or your style:  learningtower2natural, white, black, cherry, red, apple green, azure blue, royal blue and pink.  The cherry option matched our kitchen cabinets beautifully!

If allowing your child to safely help you in the kitchen wasn’t enough – the Learning Tower can transform into an imaginative playhouse or puppet theater!  There is a Playhouse/Puppet Theater Accessory Kit that is sold separately.  This adorable accessory set includes an easily-attachable roof, red curtains, and 4 theme signs to create a puppet theatre, doll house, drive-thru, and lemonade stand.  We also found that our testers were able to turn it into their own “fort” by throwing a large blanket or sheet over the entire Tower.

learningtowerartOne more accessory for the Learning Tower that we love is the Art Easel. This accessory set attaches easily to The Learning Tower, and features a dry-erase board on one side with a chalkboard on the other for twice the artistic fun.  Our preschool testers loved writing and drawing on the Art Easel what they were making in the kitchen.

With so many pros as a product we only have one con to mention.  The Learning Tower is large!  Measuring 20” long x 19” wide x 38” tall, this is a not for a small kitchen.  Even in our large kitchen complete with large island, we still felt that the Learning Tower was in the way when not in use.  Plus, it does not easily break down to easily store it away.  But if you have the space – the Learning Tower is great!

We absolutely love the fact that the Learning Tower allows our children to safely help in the kitchen, matches our décor beautifully, does double duty as a playhouse/puppet theater and grows with our children.
