Style for your Child: Appaman Puffy Coat

Appaman Puffy Coat

I have had a fascination with coats and jackets since I was a teenager.  I have many different coats for all the seasons and various occasions.  Now living in Chicago and knowing how brutal the winters are here, I know a good coat is important especially for my little ones.  For an item of clothing we wear every day for about 8 solid months in the windy city, I’m always on a quest for the latest and greatest (not to mention the cutest) coats for kids.

After seeing pictures of Gwyneth’s little guy Moses in October and Gwen’s little man Kingston in December sporting the Appaman Puffy Coat, I knew I had to get my hands on one.  This coat was clearly a head turner.

Appaman was launched in the summer of 2003 by founder and designer Harald Husum.  Naming the company after his childhood companion, a corduroy monkey named Appaman.  With the tag line, Give your kid some street cred, wear Appaman, I knew this was a company I needed to see more of.

With their funky, stylish line of clothes for kids, I was excited about the Appaman Puffy Coat.  The first thing I noticed about the super warm duck down coat was that it isn’t super bulky.  Constantly aggravated by my 2 year old son’s bulky ski jacket (especially as I try to get him in the car seat)…I welcomed this coat with open arms.  Even though the coat isn’t super bulky, don’t worry because the 100% down fill keeps your child toasty.  Our little tester wore the coat in the extreme cold of -20 degree weather last week and kept cozy warm.  Plus, since the down fill is squishy, it easily stuffs into your luggage when you head out of town.

Our little tester loved the monkey logo on the zipper and the snaps.  He now lovingly refers to it as his “monkey coat”.  I found that the coat is made extremely well and washes up no problem.  I can easily throw it in the washer and dryer and it comes out looking brand new.  And remember a 2 year old is wearing this every day – we wash it A LOT!  I also love that the hood stays put on the child’s head unlike other coats that we constantly struggle with.

This ultra hip coat has a puffy, shiny shell and double pockets in front.  It’s available in four colors, red, black, blue and purple, and we love that the coat is gender neutral.  A favorite of many celebrities, this fabulous, chic coat retails for $88.

Overall, I’m super impressed with the Appaman coat and can’t wait to see what they introduce in their Spring/Summer 2009 line.

BeBe Babble has the Appaman Puffy Coat on winter sale for $79.20!

Thanks for the plug. We are thrilled you like the coat and it’s nice to see a mom appreciating the little details we pride ourselves on.

All our best,

Appaman
