TMI: For Mom’s Eyes Only!

TMI: For Mom's Eyes Only!

I am warning you now that this post is going to contain TMI.  Have you ever heard of the DivaCup?  If you haven’t its about time you do.  It’s awesome.  This is a hard product to recommend because it requires me to talk about menstruation which shockingly has never been a favorite topic of mine.

The DivaCup is a reusable silicone menstrual cup that is convenient, reliable, environmentally responsible, and economically smart.  This small cup will save you hundreds of dollars because you will never again need pads or tampons.  Okay you may need pads again if you have another baby but that’s unavoidable.  The DivaCup is made in Canada and is latex-free, plastic-free and BPA-free and is made from top quality silicone, a material that has been used in healthcare applications for over 50 years.  No chlorine, dyes, colorings or additives of any kind are used.

I bought the DivaCup almost 3 years ago but to be fair between baby-making and breastfeeding I have had less then a year’s worth of periods.  The first few months I experienced a few leaks while I was learning the best technique.  However once I conquered the learning curve I have been leak-free and no longer have to worry about packing extra tampons while leaving the house.  I don’t have to worry about what activity I am doing either.  I have enjoyed exercising and even swimming with the DivaCup.

The DivaCup can be worn for up to 12 hours before emptying, washing and reinserting for use for another 12 hours. It can be used for light or moderate flows and is emptied more often to accommodate heavy flows.  Perfect for overnight use.

Here is a tip about the tip.  Cut it off!  You don’t need it and its just irritating.  It’s included to help remove the cup but we have all had babies we know how things work down there.  Removing the cup is easy and the tip causes nothing but irritation.  Did I mention it needs to be cut off?  Just do it!

Its strange, I know but I love my DivaCup.  I love that using and disposing of tampons and pads is no longer part of my life.  Check out DivaCup’s website for more information.

  1. This looks like a good one! Got to find me one. I have been using the Instead for many years. It is a disposable version. I like it, but it is getting harder and harder to find as years go by. I had to buy a store out when they went on clearance once, at least I had enough for a year.
