Tricks To Help You Eat Healthy and Feel Great

Healthy eating is not easy. I should know, I have the world’s biggest sweet tooth and I get terrible, horrible, no good, very bad cravings very often. Today I’m sharing some easy tricks to help you eat healthy without the hassle. Because who couldn’t use a few of those?




-Meal prep. I think this one is the most important. At the beginning of each week, plan for the whole week. That means choosing what you’re going to make and serve, writing out a grocery list, and preparing said food. You’d be surprised at what a little bit of planning can do for you! It ensures that you set yourself up for success, and it saves you time and money.

-Get everyone on board. Try to get everyone on board with your healthy eating. That doesn’t mean you can’t have a snack here and there but for the most part, everyone should be okay with eating clean the majority of the time. If your house is full of cookies, cakes, and candy, you’re going to be that much more tempted to cheat on your healthy eating plan.

-Pack and prepare. Pack healthy snacks like protein bars, fruits, and mixed nuts to carry with you when you’re on the go. There’s been so many times I’ve driven through McDonalds for fries because I was out, I was hungry, and I had no healthy snacks with me.

-Prepare your home. Have healthy things cooked and already prepared in your house. Hard boiled eggs, chicken breasts, black beans, sliced and washed veggies. Have healthy snack options that are only an arms reach away.

-Read labels. Commit to reading the labels of your food. Challenge yourself to only eat food that has ingredients you can pronounce! Don’t know what something is? That’s what Google is for! Learn and know what’s in your food.

-Turn it into a smoothie. When all else fails, turn it into a smoothie! Mask those good for you greens with berries if you have to! This is also a great way to get your kids to eat their leafy greens without even realizing it!

-Set goals. If you’re anything like me you like to achieve the goals you’ve set for yourself. Whether you’re deciding to eat healthy for weight loss goals or just to be a better you, set achievable goals for yourself. Maybe that means only one snack a day, more fruits and veggies, or 30 days of clean eating. Whatever your goals are, write them down, repeat them to yourself, achieve them!

-Buddy system. Have a friend or family member hold you accountable. Having positive help will make things easier for you. When you’re slipping, someone will be there to pick you up.

-Listen to your cravings. Crave chocolate? Try dark chocolate instead. Always craving something salty like chips? Why not have black beans with a little salt on them instead? There are always healthier options out there that mimic what you’re craving so try them instead.

-Get an app. There are great apps out there for healthy eating. Download a free app like Lose It! to keep track of everything you’re eating. This is a great way to actually see what you’re putting in your body. Sometimes all we need is to see it right in front of us!
