Virgin Drinks You Won’t Be Mocked For…& Might Even Develop a Craving For

It was quite challenging to remain in “high spirits” (pun intended) during my pregnancy with my son due to the line of work I was in at the time as a wine and spirits publicist. Since I still had to spend a considerable time in at bars and lounges with those in the spirit industry, I was extremely excited when my friend and business associate Natalie Bovis’ book, Preggatinis™: Mixology for the Mom-to-Be was published. I was definitely her targeted audience and can attest that the mocktail recipes are downright delicious – without me feeling as if I was missing out on booze!

Even when sporting a “baby bump,” hip moms can remain in the social swing of things with Preggatinis™, featuring delicious, (and surprisingly nutritious) sexy, non-alcoholic libations designed by master mixologist Natalie Bovis, aka “The Liquid Muse.” Within the book are 75 original Preggatini™ recipes highlighting fresh juices, herbs and garnishes, as well as ideas for Preggatini Parties-a modern spin on the humdrum baby shower. Illustrated with exceptional color drink photography by Claire Bennett, the images are sure to wet one’s thirst. Pregnant women don’t have to feel deprived during the upcoming holiday season and can indulge in one of these healthy and easy to make drink recipes including the Ghoulish Goblet, Pumpkin Pie Preggatini and Sparkling Pomegranate Snowflake and Baby New Year Brunch Punch.

The Apricot Gingerini was one of my absolute faves during the more nauseating times of my first trimester and I enjoyed toasting my first Mother’s Day with a “Mom”osa. I also served some of these mocktails at my son’s bris for myself and my fellow pregnant and/or nursing moms.

I raise my flute and toast all hard-working parents and the mama and dada-to-bes!!

Lainie Gutterman - Before giving birth to her son in 2009 and becoming a stay-at-home mom, Lainie was a founding partner of a Public Relations firm. Lainie describes herself as "a natural born publicist who is constantly spreading the word about new products, activities and events." When Lainie is not chasing after her son or they are not watching Nick Jr or reading together, she scrapbooks and writes posts for her blog, "Me, Myself & Baby I" at Lainie and her family live in New York City, where she sacrifices living space (but not style) to be in the center of it all in "the city that never sleeps." (Fortunately, her toddler is a sound sleeper who doesn't rise until after 9am, on most days.)
