The holidays are fast approaching which means that we have a limited amount of time to shop for all our friends and family on our list. Since you know we are always up for a good challenge, this year we teamed up with JCPenney to take “The JCPenney Holiday Challenge”. Our goal was to get everything on our list for less than we think.
This was an easy challenge to tackle because I’ve been shopping at JCPenney for as long as I can remember and I know I can get great holiday gifts that are not only a good value and affordable but it won’t bust my holiday budget. Plus, with the variety of people on my shopping list from the grandparents to my picky tween, JCPenney is a one-stop shopping destination with tons of gifts from on-trend and affordable fashion to home and beauty merchandise.
Today, I’m going to share some of the fantastic gifts I’m giving my family this year to give you some ideas in case you have some last minute shopping to get done. I’m going to be completely honest, since I’m a busy mom, I did all my shopping from the comfort of my home in my soft clothes in a matter of minutes on JCPenney.com. It was SO easy and I didn’t have to get dressed and fight the crowds and still got everything I needed delivered right to my door.
One of the things that really helped me this year with gift ideas was the new Jacques Penné Holiday Boutique. JCPenney has long been referred to as “Jacques Penné” (yes, you must say that with an accent) because of it’s fantastic merchandise at affordable prices. So this year, JCPenney brought that playful reference to life with the opening of Jacques Penné, a JCPenney Holiday Boutique. This boutique is made up of nine specially-curated and shoppable collections: Shine Bright, Tech Yes, Be Well, So Cozy, Oh What Fun, Jingle and Mingle, Making Spirits Brights, Merry and Bright and Holiday Challenge featuring picks from Nicole Richie and other celebrities.
The Jacques Penné Holiday Boutique is a virtual online store at JacquesPenneJCP.com from 12/7/17 to 01/07/18 offering holiday shoppers from across the country the opportunity to pick out fantastic gifts.
This virtual boutique is where I started my holiday shopping for the grandparents.
Grandparents can be tricky because many times it seems like they already have everything. For the first set of grandparents, we came up with a fantastic gift idea that they are sure to love. They live in the North where it is freezing in the winter and coffee is always a must-have but their current coffee maker has been on the fritz for quite a while. This year we picked out the Keurig K Select Coffee Maker (on sale for $129.99) so that a hot cup of coffee is always seconds away.
One of the other grandmas on our list is very much into staying healthy and in shape. She likes to walk daily and is a fan of the sporty “soft clothes” so we picked out a St. Johns Bay Active Midweight Softshell Jacket (on sale for $22) to keep her cozy warm during her winter walks but sporty at the same time.
We all know the aggravation of forgetting to charge your cell phone or using it so much that you are left with an empty battery when out for the day. That’s why we grabbed the adorable pink Liz Claiborne Charging Key Chain ($12.99) with a built-in charger for grandma so that she is never left with a dead cell phone when out and about. Another great Jacques Penne Holiday Boutique find!
One of the grandpas live in a cold climate in the winter and we knew that his jacket could use an upgrade. When we saw the Xersion Soft Shell Jacket (on sale $39.99), we knew it would be perfect. Grandpa doesn’t like huge, heavy coats so this lightweight, windproof and water resistant jacket won’t make him feel bulked up but still keep him warm. Plus, we picked the one with the neon pockets to keep him visual to traffic if he is walking with grandma in the evenings.
We have an uncle on our list who is a big gamer so we knew we had to get him something that had to do with video games. We decided to do a throwback gift this year and picked out the Atari Flashback Portable Game Player. This portable gaming device is loaded with 70 legendary Atari 2600 games like Pac-Man, Dig Dug, Frogger and more! He was from the Atari generation so we know he will love it, plus since it is a handheld, he can sneak it under his desk at work. We picked up the Atari Flashback Portable on sale for just $39.99.
One of the aunts on our list is quite fashionable even when she has to bundle up in the winter. When we saw the Libby Edelman Oblong Cold Weather Scarf, we knew we had a winner. She is a big scarf wearer and the gorgeous grey color will match her jacket and the affordable price of $16.80 on sale was too hard to pass up.
It only made sense that if we were going to get the aunt a scarf, that she would need a matching hat to go with it. So, we picked out the fun City Street Pom Beanie ($10) to add to her gift. Since pom pom hats are very on-trend right now, we knew it was the perfect gift for her.
Since most of our family reads our articles, those are all the gifts that we are going to share today. We did get a bunch more (think kitchen appliances, cute pajamas, shoes, makeup and more!) but we want to keep some things a surprise this year. Just know that we got all our holiday shopping done in one place and the affordable prices kept our holiday budget in check. So, yes, we basically won the JCPenney Holiday Challenge by getting everything on our list for less than we thought. As a matter of fact, we saved 48% on everything we purchased at JCPenney for the holidays!
If you are interested in the cute union suit my daughter wore during our video, that is from the North Pole Trading Co One Piece Family Pajamas line.
