Vanilla Ice Creamoptional - but highly recommended!
Caramel for dippingoptional
Instructions
Using a food processor, chop up the apple pie filling. It basically turns to applesauce when you mix it a few times in the processor. I used my Vitamix and it worked perfectly.
On a floured surface, unroll one of the pie crusts and spread the apple evenly on it.
Place the other pie shell on top.
Whisk the egg and a splash of water in a small bowl. Lightly brush the egg on top and sprinkle generously with raw sugar crystals.
Cut into sticks. If you have a decorative cutter that seals the edges as you cut, that would be great. I did not. I used a pizza cutter.
To seal the edges, I lightly pressed down with a fork around all the edges.
Place on a greased baking sheet. I highly recommend you use a silpat or parchment paper on the baking sheet. I did not. The apple pie sticks stuck to the pan and some were hard to remove.
Bake at 350 degrees for 20-24 minutes or until golden brown.
Serve with caramel sauce for dipping or a side of vanilla ice cream.
