Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Line a 9X13 baking dish with parchment paper or a silpat mat.
Cream the butter and brown sugar in a stand mixer until light and fluffy.
Add in the maple syrup and vanilla and beat until combined. Add in the egg and mix. Scrape the sides of the bowl to make sure all ingredients are blended.
Add in flour, salt and baking soda. Mix until all combined.
Spread the dough into the prepared baking dish. Bake for 10-12 minutes and lightly brown or golden on top.
While crust is baking, make the pecan filling. Cream the butter and brown sugar in a stand mixer until light and fluffy. Add the maple syrup and vanilla and mix. Add the eggs (one at a time) and mix.
Stir in the chopped pecans and chocolate chips.
Pour the pecan filling over the baked cookie crust and spread into an even layer.
Return to oven and bake an additional 20-25 minutes.
