Ingredients
  

Pecan Pie Bar Crust

  • 1/2 cup butter room temperature
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar
  • 1/4 cup pure maple syrup
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1 egg
  • 2 cups flour
  • 1/2 tsp baking soda
  • 1/2 tsp salt

Pecan Filling

  • 4 tbsp butter room temperature
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar
  • 1/2 cup maple syrup
  • 2 tsp vanilla extract
  • 2 eggs
  • 2 cups pecans chopped
  • 1 1/2 cups semi-sweet chocolate chips

Instructions
 

  • Preheat oven to 350 degrees.  Line a 9X13 baking dish with parchment paper or a silpat mat.
  • Cream the butter and brown sugar in a stand mixer until light and fluffy.
  • Add in the maple syrup and vanilla and beat until combined. Add in the egg and mix. Scrape the sides of the bowl to make sure all ingredients are blended.
  • Add in flour, salt and baking soda. Mix until all combined.
  • Spread the dough into the prepared baking dish. Bake for 10-12 minutes and lightly brown or golden on top.
  • While crust is baking, make the pecan filling. Cream the butter and brown sugar in a stand mixer until light and fluffy. Add the maple syrup and vanilla and mix. Add the eggs (one at a time) and mix.
  • Stir in the chopped pecans and chocolate chips.
  • Pour the pecan filling over the baked cookie crust and spread into an even layer.
  • Return to oven and bake an additional 20-25 minutes.
  • Let the bars cool, cut and enjoy.
