There have been rumors of a Bugaboo tandem double stroller dating back to at least 2010. Even 14 years ago, the talk on the internet streets was that it would be called the Bugaboo Kangaroo. After that speculation died down for over a decade, but the Bugaboo Kangaroo talk is back! As a matter of fact, a Bugaboo Kangaroo tester has been spotted on the streets of NYC this week.
A stroller aficionado, Mary, spotted this gem being pushed along the streets of New York City and was able to grab a photo. The stroller frame had Kangaroo 2024 printed so you know it’s a new one and it’s the long-awaited BUGABOO KANGAROO!!
At first glance, IF this is a Bugaboo Kangaroo tester, it looks like it will be a tandem stroller with a higher back seat and a lower front seat similar to the UPPAbaby Vista, the Mockingbird 2.0, Cybex Gazelle, and Silver Cross Wave. This stroller featured larger, no-flat wheels in the back (appears to be about 10″) and smaller, no-flat, swivel wheels in the front (appears to be about 6″).
The top seat in the photo sports an adjustable footrest that is longed for from Bugaboo owners and a swing-away, removable baby bumper bar. It looks like the stroller will accept a combination of Bugaboo stroller seats, carrycot and we assume a car seat adapter will be available. Our speculation (which is not confirmed yet!) is that the stroller will have a ton of versatility with being able to have two stroller seats, a stroller seat and bassinet or a combination of car seats and stroller seats or bassinet. The only configuration we don’t think will be available on this stroller is two bassinets at the same time. It doesn’t look like there is room on the frame for that set-up.
We also spot a huge basket and a telescoping, adjustable handlebar. Knowing that it is Bugaboo, we know it has to have an amazingly smooth push!
After a little digging, it looks like Bugaboo filed a new trademark for the Bugaboo Kangaroo just six months ago on November 23, 2023.
We have a feeling that this IS at least a Bugaboo Kangaroo tester if not the final product. Now, Bugaboo hasn’t breathed a word of the Kangaroo so maybe…just maybe…they will be launching it when we are at ABC Kids Expo next month. I’m not sure there has been this much excitement since the Bugaboo Donkey launched 13 years ago. Stay tuned as we will bring you all the tea from ABC on May 15, 2024.
