Sharing is caring!

My daughter, who turned 3 last month, recently decided to potty train herself. If you are a parent who is waiting until your child is ready, believe me when I say- this is a good thing. When I tried once, about a month before, she cried and said she wanted her diaper. So I had to remind myself that you don’t see any teenagers in diapers right? This will happen, in her own time.

And it did. I am beyond happy, because it was quick! So quick and easy, she just started going one day after being around her friends who were going. There was no bribery involved, because she wanted to do this. Phew. Since then, I am getting used to that tug on my leg and the “Mama! I need to go potty!!”

When you go out with a toddler that has recently been potty trained, you kind of feel like you need a potty attached to your foot so you can just whip it out as soon as they say “I need to-” because you have no idea if they can hold it to make it the bathroom in time. And a 20 minute car ride just fills you with nerves. So we decided to purchase the Kalencom 2-in-1 Potette Plus, which is a genius invention that lives in our trunk.

This is a small potty. So small it fits in a diaper bag with room to spare! It is a simple round ring that has foldable legs that you can use two ways- secure them as little legs so your toddler can sit on it like a potty, or pull them out flat and put the Potette on top of any public toilet so your child can sit on their own seat. Genius? I think so!

It comes with biodegradable liners that fit over the seat, so when your child is using it as a potty and they finish, you can simply secure the bag and throw it in the trash! The liners have a soaker pad at the bottom in order to soak up all the pee. You won’t have any pee or poop on the potty itself, as it’s completely covered while your child is doing their business. It even comes with a small little Potette plastic drawstring bag to attach to your stroller. The convenience of this potty and the fact that you don’t have to wash it while you’re out is wonderful!

And if you only want to buy one potty for both inside the house and outdoor use? No problem, Kalencom also sells a silicone reuseable liner, pictured below, that turns the Potette into a standard potty for home use, which you just rinse out after you’ve flushed your child’s bowel movement down the toilet. The resuable liner is sold separately here.

I know this portable potty will make it through years of outdoor pee and poop. It’s an excellent portable potty for children. The 2-in-1 Potette Plus comes in four different colors: red, green, pink and blue with three aborbent liners. Additional liners are sold separately.
