Control the Clutter

Sharing is caring!

If you’re like me, you’re probably tired of stepping on blocks, tripping over toy trucks, and sliding on board books that were left in the middle of the floor. To help you control the clutter, I’ve rounded up five fun and functional toy and book storage items. They are so cool, they may actually motivate your kids to clean up!

storage Solutions

Storagepalooza: These popular wooden storage bins from The Land of Nod come in a variety of colors to fit your décor—white, espresso, light honey, tomato red, and midnight blue. They are stackable, so you can mix and match them to meet your storage needs. We have a red 3-bin Storagepalooza stacked on top of a blue 2-bin one in our twins’ playroom, and they look great! They are very sturdy, and their open design makes it easy for my toddlers to see what’s inside and to put their toys away when it’s time to clean up. The Storagepalooza, regularly $199 per unit, is currently on sale for $149 at landofnod.com.

Kids’ Sling Bookshelf with Storage Bins: We also have this item, made by One Step Ahead, in our playroom. We love it because our boys can easily see their books, and they can remove them one at a time without knocking all of the other books onto the floor. We store art supplies in the pullout storage bins on the bottom. You can also personalize the bookshelf with your kids’ names. It’s well-made, it looks great, and we’ve gotten a ton of compliments on it! The Sling Bookshelf, normally $79.95, is on sale for $63.96 at onestepahead.com.

LEGO Storage Items: The Container Store has some really cool LEGO storage items in a variety of colors, shapes, and sizes to help contain your kids’ overflowing stash of LEGO bricks. Your little LEGO fanatics will have a great time sorting their LEGOs into different-sized storage bricks that look like real LEGOs, LEGO Storage Heads that replicate the heads of LEGO figures, LEGO Workstations with pullout drawers, and LEGO Tabletop Drawers. I almost hope my boys grow up to love LEGOs so I can get some of these!

3 Sprouts Animal Storage Bins: How stinkin’ adorable are these canvas animal storage bins from 3 Sprouts? The roomy bins would look awesome not just in a playroom or an animal-themed nursery, but even in your living room or other common areas of your home. You can use them for toys, books, or laundry, and they fold up when not in use. Target.com offers the cheapest prices for these I could find.  You can get the hippo for $21.15, the bear for $24.59, and more.

TROFAST Storage System: Want to build your own toy storage system? Check out IKEA’s TROFAST system. The system includes plastic bins and drawers and wooden frames in a variety of colors, shapes, and sizes that you can mix and match to create a custom toy storage system. Action figures, balls, and art supplies can each have a home of their own without getting mixed up. Your kids can also use the fun TROFAST stickers to label each drawer and bin so they’ll know what’s inside.

Check the size of the toy box before purchasing to make sure it has ample storage for larger toys and that your child can use it easily.
