This is my
love story review of Freshly Picked Moccasins. Where, oh where, do I begin? I guess I should start back to when I first started looking for shoes for my son. I’m picky when it comes to fashion and apparel and anything related to my son. I want the best for him. I want his clothes to be well made, for them to last, and to be fashionable, too. I was searching around online and came across a photo of Kourtney Kardashian’s son Mason wearing the cutest pair of moccasins I had seen. I knew I just had to have those shoes. Upon further investigation I learned that those shoes were called Freshly Picked and that they were made by an angel in Provo, Utah named Susan Petersen.
Almost two years later and my son’s Freshly Picked moccasin collection boasts about 20 pairs. I know this shoe like the back of my hand and today I want to give you a very thorough review and let you know why your child needs a pair of their own.
Susan Peterson started this company herself- did you all see that she was on Shark Tank recently? She got an amazing deal with Damon! On Shark Tank she told the story of when she was first starting out. She spent all summer smashing the windows out of frames so she could take the frames in and earn some extra money. She was given $200 and that was enough for her to buy some scrap leather, so she working so hard until it eventually paid off. Isn’t that an amazing story? She built this company from the ground up and though there are a lot of knock-offs out there, there is nothing like Freshly Picked- the original.
Her shoes come in a huge variety of colors, are unisex and made in sizes 1-10. While some are made of leather, others are made of suede, and they have a size chart on their site that you can print and compare to your child’s foot to ensure you are ordering the right size and getting a perfect fit.
They are currently releasing their new Spring 14 line one moccasin at a time. Every Thursday at 10am a new beautiful moccasin makes its way into their online shop ready to be scooped up and purchased. New this season is the Camo moccasin, their very first print pair! It is a suede and gorgeous! Their colors are bright, bold, and totally on trend, but they’ve also got neutral colors that will match everything in your child’s wardrobe.
These moccasins are very easy to get on and off, require no lacing, but the best part is, they STAY on your little ones feet. They have a built in elastic band that is stretchy, so the shoes are comfortable but secure on your little one’s feet. They have soft soles, but are perfect for all terrains, be it at the park or playground, and they are great for all seasons. I’ve got a wild little three year old who is outside and on the go every day and I can personally attest to how well they hold up. We have never, in the two years I’ve owned these shoes, had a problem with rips or snags or anything.
Freshly Picked moccasins are all my son wants to wear. Seriously! We swear by them. If your moccasins get a little dirty, you can use some baby wipes to wipe them down.
They also have an amazing customer service team that you will love working with when you order. Shipping is fast and their customer service team is extremely attentive to makes sure that every single email is responded to. Freshly Picked has a huge following on Instagram and often times people ask them a huge stream of questions there. Sometimes the same question is asked about 50 times (I kid you not) but Susan and her team of Brand Enthusiasts (it is my life long dream to be one… Susan, are you reading this?) answer EVERY SINGLE QUESTION individually no matter how many times it is asked. They really care about each and every customer, and they don’t overlook anyone. When you order from Freshly Picked, you are treated with the utmost respect and kindness and you are in the best of hands. I don’t know about you, but when I buy a product, that is how I want to be treated.
Something that I think is especially awesome about this product is that after your child wears their moccs for sometime, their footprint will actually be on the bottom! I think this is such a sweet keepsake of your little one’s childhood- their baby footprint right there on the bottom of their shoe! I am going to save my sons moccasins forever so that one day I can look back and show him what his favorite shoe was and so we can see just how tiny his foot was.
Susan and her team recently did a “tour” at different Land Of Nod stores around the country. Her last stop was in Costa Mesa, CA and my son and I made the trek out to meet them! They are the nicest people on the planet and it was a pleasure to meet them. I even had Susan autograph a pair of my son’s moccasins because in my book, she’s famous, and this lady is going places!
