Summer Baby Pixel Zoom HD Baby Monitor Review –

Let’s just put it out there – if you are having a baby, a video monitor should be on your must-have list. No question about it! It doesn’t matter whether you live in a tiny house or a big, sprawling mansion, a video monitor will give you the peace of mind that you’ll need as a new parent when your baby is in her crib.

Summer (formerly “Summer Infant”) recently debuted a new video monitor that we are absolutely in love with. It checks all the boxes for the must-have features we look for in a video monitor PLUS it has one of the best, clearest pictures we’ve ever seen on a baby monitor. To be honest, it has so many great features that we can’t even tell you which feature is our favorite.

Let’s start with the parent unit screen size. Yes, size matters when it comes to video monitor screens and the Summer Baby Pixel Zoom HD boasts a large 5.0″ HD screen. You are going to get a crystal clear picture of your baby because this monitor has 12 times more pixels than standard monitors. And if you want an up close and personal view of the baby, just hit the zoom button for a 6 level zoom. That means that it can zoom in 6 times. You’ll pretty much be able to see if the baby is cutting a tooth with this zoom feature.

From the parent unit, you can remote steer the camera to get a view of pretty much anywhere in the room that you’d like. It moves side to side and up and down and has a very quiet movement as not to wake the baby. The parent unit also displays the nursery temperature, time, battery power and signal strength.

We absolutely love the two-way talk back feature that allows us to soothe or comfort baby back to sleep or let them know you are on the way! The lullabies, white noise, adjustable volume and video brightness and sound activated LED lights are also great features!

The Baby Pixel HD Zoom also features a SleepZone™ Virtual Boundary that alerts you if baby has moved out of the virtual boundary box.

Since many babies sleep in a darker room, the night vision on the camera is always important to us. Thankfully, the Baby Pixel HD Zoom has a clear night vision picture in black and white BUT the HD Moonlite Night Vision Boost is even better. With the press of a button, it subtly illuminates your camera’s viewing area for a clearer, temporary, IN-COLOR view of the baby in the dark. It’s really something special!

The last feature we’d like to mention is the voice activated video on/off technology (VOX) that auto-wakes the screen display when there is sound in the nursery and automatically returns to power-save mode after 30 seconds with no activity. NOTE: This feature can be turned off.
