The Sweetest Storybooks To Gift at a Baby Shower

Sharing is caring!

My sister is expecting her first baby and it has been my pride and joy to help her build her baby’s library. In fact, for her baby shower I encouraged guests to inscribe a “card” message on the inside of a book instead of a traditional baby shower card. Having books close by is one of the best ways to encourage reading, the love of art, and, perhaps best of all, it provides an easy way to bond and snuggle those precious little ones!

My youngest is just a toddler, so, in our home, board books and sentimental stories abound. We read often and over the years I’ve gathered gobs of favorites. Too many perhaps! But, in light of sharing some of the sweetest storybooks for gifting at a baby showering I’ve rounded up my top ten! Well, my top ten today 🙂

(You can click on each book title to purchase or you can go to our Amazon idea list to see – and buy! – them all in one place! SWEET STORYBOOKS IDEA LIST)

You Belong Here by M. H. Clark — You might want to gift this book with a box of tissues. Forever and always I’ll cherish this phrase from midway through, “And you are a dream that the world once dreamt and now you are part of its song. That’s why you are here, in the place where you’re meant, for this is right where you belong.”

Bunny Roo, I Love You by Melissa Marr — The artwork is frameable, and, I bet you won’t be able to resist calling that little cutie pie “Bunny Roo” upon completion!

100 Things I Love To Do With You by Amy Schwartz — Build that vocabulary early with this great picture book.

Muddle and Match by Autumn Publishing — My son is 16 months old and for half his life now, this book has been his #1 pick from out book basket. The bright illustrations and silly tales make his stare in wonder and laugh in delight.

The Wonderful Things You Will Be by Emily Winfield Martin — Another sentimental gem. Such heartwarming thoughts for impending babes.

If I Had a Little Dream by Nina Laden — Listen to this perfecting ending, “If I had a little dream, I would name it You. You would make life magical, where wishes do come true.” Beautiful, isn’t it!

I Wish You More by Amy Krouse Rosenthal — On the inside cover consider writing your own “I wish …” in honor of the new baby.

On the Night You Were Born by Nancy Tillman — This is a story that will be a favorite forever!

Made For Me by Zack Bush — Aren’t dads just the best? Zack Bush needs to write more children’s book!

Good Day, Good Night by Margaret Wise Brown — A never before published book from the same author as Goodnight Moon. Eek! I don’t have this one yet, but you better believe it’s in my Amazon cart!

Do you have a go to book that you like gifting at baby showers (or for baby’s first birthday)? Share! Let’s build those little libraries!
