Quick Tip: How To Keep Little Kids Busy

Sharing is caring!

Today we’re sharing a quick tip on how to keep your kids busy at a restaurant or at home when you need five minutes of peace to just drink that cup of coffee alone. This is for parents of little ones, mainly toddlers and preschoolers, and involves you having two bags of $1 toys from Target, Dollar Tree etc in your home that you must keep hidden from your children!

One bag is full of toys you can just throw in your purse or diaper when you’re about to go eat out and you know your children will not sit still while waiting for the food. So, we’ve got things like small packets of play dough, coloring packs, mini whiteboards etc. And the other bag is full of toys you can just surprise kids with at home to keep them occupied. Since you’re at home, you can pretty much choose anything. Ours includes things like a mini bowling set, racing cars, puzzles, fun glittery wands etc. Go to town!

Whenever I get 5 minutes of shopping in Target without the kids, I pick up a few $1 items that I know will keep their interest for more than 30 seconds, take them home and hide them in one of the two bags. So that when I need something, anything, to keep the kids occupied when we’re  going out to eat with the inlaws or just to get some important work done on the computer, my little ones will be busy with something other than the iPad or TV (which we love dearly, but this is a nice break).

Here is quick two minute video taking a peek inside our toys bags, or as I prefer to call them- my sanity savers!
