Imagine a time when a stroller helps you push it fully loaded up and down hills with its fancy motor. Or a stroller that rocks your baby to sleep. Now stop dreaming because that time is now. Meet the new Cybex e-Gazelle S Stroller. This stroller literally rocks.
This is the still the game changing Cybex Gazelle stroller for parents that can be a single, a double, a pram, a travel system, a double travel system with its 20+ configurations but now it also has a e motor.
STROLLER SEAT
The Cybex e-Gazelle S stroller is recommended from 3 months to 50 lbs unless you are using it as a travel system with an infant car seat then it can be used from birth. The seat is 12″ wide with a 19″ seat back and 24″ from seat back to top of canopy. The adjustable, padded harness is easy to adjust with a strap system that is similar to an infant car seat. We love that the seat is complete with a swing-away, removable baby bumper bar and that the calf rest is adjustable for comfort.
There is a deep, one-handed recline on the seat and it is reversible so that your little rider can face forward or parent-face.
STROLLER CANOPY
The 3 panel canopy is large and in charge on the e-Gazelle with plenty of sun protection and features a mesh, peek-a-boo window to keep an eye on your little one.
HANDLEBAR
An adjustable handlebar is key for taller and shorter parents alike and the Cybex e-Gazelle handle adjusts from 39″ to 43″ from ground to handle.
E-GAZELLE STORAGE
The e-Gazelle gives you storage in two ways: a big basket under the seat and a detachable shopper basket. These two storage areas allow you to carry all the essentials for baby and parents.
CYBEX E-GAZELLE WHEELS
The Cybex e-Gazelle rolls on 8″ wheels on the front and 12″ wheels on the back. They are hard rubber wheels so there is no need to worry about a flat. These tires are well made and can tackle all the “mom terrain” such as grass, playground mulch and gravel that we through at it. When tackling terrain, it’s easier if you lock the front wheels straight.
The maneuverability is good on the e-Gazelle but it doesn’t roll quite as easy as some other strollers when you are NOT using the power assist. It is like the motor on the back wheels is holding it back slightly when power assist isn’t on. Don’t get me wrong, it’s not hard but you can feel the difference.
20+ CONFIGURATIONS ON THE E-GAZELLE
Versatility is the e-Gazelle’s middle name. With over 20 different configurations, you can easily switch between using a single seat, adding a second seat, attaching a bassinet, or even clicking in an infant car seat or even TWO infant car seats to make it a double travel system. All this flexibility is great for accommodating growing families.
E-GAZELLE E-POWER
This electric stroller assists up hills, slows down itself and can rock your little rider to sleep thanks to the motor built into the stroller frame that is powered by a lithium-ion battery. The battery is included and attached at the rear of the stroller basket. There are two buttons on the handlebar that turn on the power assist and rocking features and four LED lights to let you know how much battery is left and which power you are at for the rocking feature.
To use the power assist feature, there is a little lever that you work with your thumb on the underside of the handlebar. Push forward for power assist and pull backwards for brake assist. The power assist will only start once the stroller has been moving for about 3-4 seconds so no worry that the stroller will just roll away by pushing the lever. You have to actually be pushing the stroller for it to engage.
Once the power assist starts, the motor on the rear wheels will start and the stroller will start to roll itself and you will feel like you are walking very fast on flat surface or it will start to help push the stroller up a hill. The stroller was designed to help with slopes up to 14 degrees and the Cybex says the battery will last from 5-28 miles depending on the weather and terrain.
The rocking feature is one of my favorite features of the e-Gazelle. In order to turn it on, you need to lock the front wheels, lock the stroller into place, press the power button and then hold down the rocking horse button until you get to the intensity that you want. There are three intensity levels of the rocking feature and that is indicated by how many of the LED lights turn on when you hold down the rocking horse button. At first glance, the rocking motion seemed a little jerky but we learned right away that it is magic. Seriously, we put our 2 month old in the seat when she was a bit cranky and she was asleep within the minute.
Overall, the power assist feature is awesome if you have a fully loaded stroller and hills around you or if you’d like an little incentive to walk faster on flat ground for a bit more exercise. The rocking feature is ahhh-mazing for infants.
