It is one of our favorite times of year at Universal Orlando Florida – MARDI GRAS! Last year, we had the amazing opportunity to visit Universal Orlando and experience Mardi Gras Universal-style. Live concerts, authentic Cajun cuisine and an amazing parade plus so much more that my family loved! You can see our full coverage from last year here.
This annual, family-friendly Mardi Gras is a not-to-be-missed grand celebration and it starts tomorrow (February 8) and runs on select nights through May 31.
One of the greatest things about this party is that each year they have the greatest concert line-up with music that everyone is sure to love. This year Robin Thick, Foreigner, Collective Soul, Weezer, Kool and the Gang, Gavin DeGraw and Barenaked Ladies are just a few of the amazing artists that will be hitting the stage. Here is the entire Mardi Gras concert schedule:
If you were an American Idol fan back in its heyday, you will be just as excited as we are that Season 5’s Chris Daughtry is kicking off the entire Mardi Gras celebration with some of his popular hits like “Home,” “It’s Not Over” and “No Surprise”.
Before the concert, guests can catch colorful beads by the handful (this was my kids absolute FAVORITE!) during the festive Mardi Gras parade, which will feature 12 vibrant floats, including three new additions celebrating Jules Verne’s novel, “Around the World in Eighty Days.” Guests can also visit Universal Studios Florida’s very own French Quarter Courtyard to enjoy authentic Cajun cuisine and see performances by bands pulled straight from Bourbon Street.
Another great thing? No extra ticket for any of this awesomeness because Mardi Gras is included in your park admission!
If you are even thinking about visiting Universal Orlando during Mardi Gras, you should go! You won’t be disappointed. Even though this video isn’t Mardi Gras specific, you can watch our video coverage of all the things to do at Universal through the eyes of a child in the Baby Gizmo video below…

Oh, and if you go, they just opened up the Universal City Walk’s newest restaurant, Antojitos Authentic Mexican Food. “Featuring colorful décor, fresh, authentic cuisine, more than 200 different tequilas, and authentic Mexican folk art, Antojitos takes diners on a journey through the cantinas, street carts and markets of Mexico City for craveable Mexican fare that is unlike any other.”
If you visit Antojitos, let us know how it was! It looks amazing but since it just opened up two days ago on Feb. 5, we haven’t have a chance to check it out yet!
