I think celebrating a dad’s first Father’s Day is a very special occasion. Presumably, their whole life has changed drastically recently with the addition of a baby to their family, and I think it’s important to acknowledge that in a special way.
That said, I find that many Father’s Day gifts (and many gifts for men, in general) are not my husband’s style. I like to get him a combination of practical and sentimental gifts. I tried to choose these ideas very carefully with my husband in mind, as well. Here’s a round-up of six great ideas for a new dad’s first Father’s Day! Let us know what you think in the comments below.
Tula Baby Carrier – $149 on Amazon
Most baby carriers are, in my opinion, designed for moms – they have a fun, colorful pattern to them. But dads can proudly wear their babies, too! This ergonomic Tula carrier in plain black is sure to please a new dad.
Lifeproof iPhone Case – $67 on Amazon
These phone cases are the best. They’re waterproof, dirt proof, shock proof, and snow proof – a must for life with a small child.
Dad Gear Backpack – $110 on Amazon
Many diaper bags are brightly colored or patterned. My husband’s great about carrying my bag, but I know he’d prefer a simple backpack. This unassuming backpack has a ton of storage pockets – great for organizing all of the ‘stuff’ that comes along with a new baby!
Matching Baseball Gloves – $24 to $53 on Amazon
I think this is super sweet – many dads look forward to having a good old-fashioned catch with their child. Of course, a baby won’t be able to catch for a few years, but I think dad will get the message with this gift.
Custom Photo Books – Prices starting at $25 on Shutterfly
I love the idea of compiling a custom photo book with pictures of daddy and baby (and mommy too, if you have them!) – I know my husband would love his own photo book that was made especially for him featuring his little baby.
Dad and Baby – specific books – See some ideas here
