Holiday Simmer – The Perfect, Natural Scent for Your Home

Sharing is caring!

Pine needles.

Sugar cookies.

The fireplace.

I adore the scent of the holidays, don’t you?

In past years I’ve been drawn to candles that fill my home with that cozy glow and amazing smell, but these days I’m head over heels in love with this natural holiday simmer!

This holiday simmer is a medley of produce and spices, an easy thing to whip up and allow to brew on the stove top during an afternoon of Christmas movies or an evening of mingling with friends.

Ingredients

  • 2 cups fresh cranberries
  • 1 orange, sliced
  • 4 cinnamon sticks
  • 1 tablespoon whole cloves
  • 1 sprig fresh rosemary
  • 1/2 teaspoon nutmeg

Directions

Fill a large pot with water. Add cranberries, orange slices, cinnamon sticks, herbs, and spices. If you have essential oils on hand, any/all of the spices can be substituted with their oil … just a few drops, they’re potent!

Bring to a boil and simmer for an hour or more.
