We just returned from a fabulous 6-day trip to Disney Aulani in Hawaii. Since traveling for us many times means taking the kids out of school, I am always looking for them to learn new things on our journeys. After all, life experiences and exploring new places is often just as good as learning things in the classroom (in moderation, of course!).
Our kids had never been to Hawaii so this was a perfect opportunity for them to learn all about this island state. I was so happy with the Disney Aulani Resort & Spa because from the minute we arrived, they were learning all kinds of new things about Hawaii and the Hawaiian culture from the cast members. This Disney resort was different than any other Disney destination that we have visited because of what cast members refer to as it having big “H” and little “d”. That’s right, this resort is Hawaiian first and Disney second. Unlike Disney World and Disneyland where everything is focused on Mickey and his friends, Aulani is all about Hawaii. Sure there are hidden Mickeys everywhere but Mickey Mouse is very understated at this resort. It’s all about the Hawaiian culture and we loved that!
Everyday my kids were learning something new about the island whether it was from the cast members in the kids’ program (Aunty’s Beachhouse), poolside or at the character breakfast. We decided that this would be a perfect opportunity for my daughter to share with you some of the new things she learned this past week while she missed school.
