While visiting London, even in summer, you need to have an idea of what you will do when it rains. With two small children, we decided to make a trip to Gambado, an indoor play center in London.
Fun is not enough to describe how great this place is! Seriously, the kids loved it!
The center is huge and consists of:
- An extensive jungle gym for older kids, with slides, ball pits and other activities.
- Dodgems cars which are included in the price- go on as many times as you like! You can even drive for your toddlers.
- A teacup ride which is also included in the entry fee.
- A separate play area for children under 2 years old.
- Plenty of seating for families.
- A cafe serving hot and cold drinks, light lunches and snacks.
- Free wifi.
We always visited during the week at schooltime, so it was fairly quiet, but my daughter still managed to make friends and run off to play. At around 3.00pm, when schools are out, it suddenly becomes VERY busy, so if you have a little one that is afraid of big crowds, do keep this in mind.
The huge play structure can be overwhelming for younger kids, but undoubtedly, my kids’ favorite activity was the huge slide. I must say, even me, grandma and grandpa went on it a few times! 🙂 If your child gets stuck anywhere, there is enough space for you to go up and rescue them (which we had to do once).
The separate area for children under two was completely padded with a slide which is easy to access, so your little one will love going up and down independently! There is also a small ball pit and other areas for them to crawl around in and jump on.
There were so many children of different ages enjoying Gambado, and the parents were relaxed knowing everyone was happy. At around lunchtime, the children would take a break and eat lunch from the cafe. The food portions in the UK are a lot smaller than the US, so prepare yourself! But the kids enjoyed the pasta and fries. After they were done, we had our coffees and I got to answer a few emails.The wifi at Gamabado is a little weak. After a few visits, I found it was best to sit near the cafe area to get access.
Gambado’s entry fees are a little pricey- you can view them here, and keep in mind they’re in British pounds. But you can get a membership, which will lower the price, and they also do summer camps!
