11 of the Best Audible Books For Early Readers

Sharing is caring!

I have been so very excited to share this list of Audible recommendations with you! Because, for our family, this summer has been the summer of audiobooks. I’m loving them, my almost 2nd grader is loving them, my almost kindergartener is loving them, and even my toddler and baby seem amused.

We listen to books, on average, an hour a day. Sometimes significantly more. And as much as we love reading books, listening to them, especially with an engaging narrator, has become on of our favorite pastimes.

Needless to say, our Audible membership is one of the best things I pay for each month. It allows us to download and listen to audiobooks over and over again and these audiobooks, just like real books, have become dear friends to us.

Here are a few of our very favorites!

Tumtum and Nutmeg — This is the first book in an Audible exclusive series and it’s such a cute story about two little mice.

The Wonderful Wizard of Oz — Read by Anne Hathaway! I really hope she records more Oz books.

The Ramona Quimby Audio Collection — Narrated by Stockard Channing, this collection of of eight books (that’s almost 19 hours!) is a great Audible purchase to start with, especially if you’re using your free credit*.

Magic Tree House Collection, Books 1-8 — Eight books in six hours… talk about road trip material!

The Adventures of Angus the Mouse — My son listens to this at least once a week.

The Llama Llamo Audiobook Collection — Perfect for the younger crowd. The cadence is wonderful too. Oh, llama, llama…

The Reluctant Dragon — Who has a dragon lover? This story will be a win!

Charlie and the Chocolate Factory — Listen to the book as a family and then plan a movie night with candy treats!

Little House in the Big Woods — Cherry Jones is an extraordinary narrator. We’re slowly collecting the whole Laura Ingalls Wilder collection because not only are the books fantastic, but hearing them read aloud by Jones is extra amazing.

The Jungle Book — I love introducing my kids to the book version of stories they’re familiar with (thanks, Disney!). The Jungle Book is a great one to start with.

Pippi Longstocking — Get ready for over two hours of fun and shenanigans!

*If you’re not yet an Audible member, you can get your first month for free – that’s equal to one free audiobook! You get to keep the audiobook regardless of if you begin the paid membership or not.
