DIY Decorative Wall Molding | House Tour Sneak Peek

Sharing is caring!

Many of you know that we just moved into a new house a few months ago and you’ve been patiently waiting for a house tour. The full house tour is coming (in a matter of weeks!) but today we wanted to give you a sneak peek into one of the main rooms. Yep, we are bringing you in the master bedroom to share an easy, weekend project that took our bedroom to the next level. We added decorative wall molding and it was so much easier than we thought it would be! We’d like to think it turned out so well that the room looks like it belongs in a model home.

This project won’t break the bank because we only spent about $200 to make it happen and we are so glad we did. If you are looking for something easy that will “fancy up” one of your rooms in your home, you have to do this!

MATERIALS NEEDED:

  • Trim Board Primed (we used 32 boards for our room)
  • Nail Gun (or hammer and nails for a slower process)
  • Table Saw (for ripping wood)
  • Miter Saw (angle cuts)

  • Nail Putty
  • Paint (we used Behr Ultra in “French Silver”)

(Window Draperies featured in our room are the Blinds.com Easy Grommet Drapery in “Casablanca Mineral”. SHOP HERE.)

HOW TO VIDEO

To see how we completed this DIY Decorative Wall Molding project, watch Dad Gizmo’s video below.

TIPS:

It’s all about the measuring with this project. You need a lot of patience to measure and calculate how many boxes you would like depending on the size of your room. We decided that all our boxes would be 76″ tall and the large boxes would be 20 1/2″ wide and the small boxes would be 6″ wide. Then we figured out the perfect space between boxes would be 11 1/4″.  Depending on the size of your room, your boxes and spaces will probably be different.

Overall, it was a rather easy project that we think anyone can tackle. If you decide to do this project, we’d love to know about it! Please leave us a comment and let us know how it went.
