Cleaning an oven is the worst, amIright? Every time I see something spill, boil over or crumble in the oven, I cringe because I know it’s going to bake onto the bottom which means I have to clean it. And if you are like me, you’ll let it go and keep using the dirty oven as the grease and grime just keeps baking in. Fortunately, we have a solution to clean an oven FAST, with little effort and it WORKS.
CAN’T MY OVEN JUST CLEAN ITSELF?
Sure, your oven probably has a “self-cleaning” option but we aren’t a fan. We tried our oven’s built-in cleaning setting one time a few years ago, and no joke, we saw a fireball go off in our oven. The cabinets around the oven became so hot that we thought it was going to burn the house down. Luckily, it didn’t. Plus, when you start that oven cleaning setting, you can’t turn it off. So you just wait. And wait. And wait. Hoping it doesn’t burn the house down. So, we’ve never used the oven cleaning setting again.
WHAT ABOUT ALL THOSE STORE BOUGHT OVEN CLEANING CHEMICALS?
Yeah, we’ve seen the chemicals at that store and we aren’t a fan of those either. Chemical fumes in my kitchen where we spend a lot of time and in my oven which cooks my family’s food? Not a fan. There are warnings of chemical fumes for a reason. I don’t need leftover chemical fumes soaking into my dinner meatloaf thankyouverymuch.
NATURAL OVEN CLEANING SOLUTION
Since we aren’t a fan of the chemicals or the self-cleaning oven, we have a super easy solution for you to clean your oven in just 5-10 minutes (+ soaking time but you aren’t doing anything during soaking time!).

WHAT YOU NEED TO CLEAN YOUR OVEN
Baking Soda
Water
Vinegar (in a spray bottle)
2 clean cloths
Rubber Gloves (optional)
STEP BY STEP GUIDE
STEP 1: Make sure your oven is off and completely cool.
You obviously don’t want to stick your head, arms or hands in a hot oven. Make sure the oven is off and completely cooled down. Remove the oven racks. Depending on how dirty the racks are, wipe them down or soak them in soapy water.
STEP 2: Mix baking soda and water to create a natural cleaning solution.
Baking soda has MANY uses. Whiten your teeth? Baking soda. Relieve itchy skin and sunburns? Baking soda. Clean a toilet? Baking soda. Soothe canker sores? Baking soda. Neutralize fridge odors? Baking soda. Clean your oven? BAKING SODA.
In a bowl, mix 1/2 – 1 cup of baking soda with water. This measurement doesn’t have to be perfect. You are making a PASTE. Add a little bit of water at a time to the baking soda in the bowl and stir until you create a paste. No exact measurements needed.
STEP 3: Cover the oven surfaces in baking soda paste.
Spread the baking soda paste all over the bottom, sides and door of your oven’s interior. This is where your rubber gloves come in. If your oven is quite grimy, put on the rubber gloves and just smear the baking soda paste all over the interior of your oven with your hands including the glass door.
STEP 4: Close the oven and let it sit overnight
Yep, just close the oven and walk away and let the baking soda do the work. Let the baking soda paste sit for 12 hours or overnight.
STEP 5: Wipe Down the Oven with a Clean Cloth
After the 12 hours, we like to start with a plastic (non-scratching spatula) to scrap up as much of the baking soda first.
Then use a clean, damp cloth and wipe down the interior of the oven as much as you can.
STEP 6: Spray with Vinegar
After you have wiped as much of the baking soda paste up as you can, spray vinegar all over the interior of the oven and wipe it clean.
STEP 7: One Final Wipe Down
Take a damp cloth and give it one final wipe down. It should be sparkling clean now. Replace the oven racks.

How about the top, the back and lateral walls? That is usually the most difficult to clean.
