Nutella Stuffed Churro Cookies Recipe

Sharing is caring!

When we shared the Crumbl Churro Cookies Copycat Recipe a few months ago, people absolutely LOVED it! Of all the cookies that I make, that one made the all time top 5 favorite for my husband and teenage daughter. Yep, it’s that good! Today, we are tackling the Crumbl sister cookie of the Churro – the Nutella Stuffed Churro Cookie (aka Crumbl Hazelnut Churro Cookie).

Nutella Cookies on Blue Plate

This is a warm cinnamon-based cookie stuffed with Nutella hazelnut spread and rolled in cinnamon sugar. There is no frosting with this one but we found that with all the delicious Nutella, it really doesn’t need it. Maybe that is why Crumbl skipped the frosting?

If you like Nutella, and let’s be honest, who doesn’t, this is the cookie for you!

SERVE WARM OR COLD?

This is always the question with Crumbl cookies, amIright? I’m not talking about the cookie dough because no chilling is necessary for the dough but how do you serve the Nutella Churro Cookies? Chilled or warm? When Crumbl has the Nutella Churro Cookies as the special for the week, they serve them warm, which is amazing! And to be honest, it’s the BEST way to eat these cookies!

That being said, unless you are going to polish off the entire batch of cookies the same day, I recommend storing them in the refrigerator. I have found that all the Crumbl copycat recipes stay fresh longer if you keep them in the refrigerator. No matter what air-tight container you keep the cookies in, they don’t stay fresh as long out on the counter as they do if you put them in the fridge. On the counter = good for 3 days. In the fridge = good for 5 days.

So, the moral of the story is STORE THESE COOKIES IN THE FRIDGE but pop them in the microwave for 10-15 seconds before eating so that they are ooey-gooey warm and delicious. Sure, you can eat them cold or let them come to room temperature but you’ll thank me when you still have fresh cookies 3-4 days later.

4. Scoop out about 1 tablespoon and roll into a dough ball. Repeat with the rest of the dough to make about 24 dough balls. Slightly flatten the dough ball and place a frozen Nutella scoop in the center. Wrap the cookie dough around the Nutella and roll it in your hands to seal it.

Nutella Cookie Steps

NOTE: You have to work fast because the Nutella will start to thaw really, really quick making it messier and messier to try to roll the dough around.

TIP: Take out only 4-6 pieces of Nutella out of the freezer at a time and work in batches to keep the Nutella as frozen as possible.

5. Mix the 2 TBSP granulated sugar and 1/4 tsp cinnamon (Cinnamon Sugar Coating) in a bowl. Roll each cookie dough in the cinnamon sugar mixture and place on the prepared baking sheet. You should have 12 cookies per cookie sheet and leave about 2 inches in between each cookie. Slightly flatten each cookie dough ball.
