Hot Chocolate Cookies Recipe

Sharing is caring!

I have so many favorite cookie recipes but I’d have to say that this Hot Chocolate Cookies recipe is one of my favorite-favorites. It’s a dark chocolate cocoa flavored cookie that is soft on the inside and a bit crispy on the edges and packed with Kraft Mallow Bits. It’s basically a cup of hot cocoa with marshmallows but in cookie form.

Kraft Mallow Bits

Mallow Bits are basically dehydrated marshmallows. They are PERFECT for making these hot cocoa cookies taste like hot cocoa. I thought Kraft had discontinued Mallow Bits a while back, but low and behold, I found them at my local Target in the ice cream topping section. It was almost a sign that I had to share this recipe with you. I don’t normally find these freeze dried mini marshmallows in my regular grocery story but I recommend checking your local Target, Walmart or even the hot cocoa section in your grocery store.

If you can’t find the Mallow Bits, I DO NOT RECOMMEND using regular marshmallows. The cookies won’t be the same. Luckily, if you can’t find the Kraft version, there are other options available online such as these Coffee Topping Dehydrated Marshmallows or these Dehydrated Marshmallows.

To Chill or Not to Chill

There are conflicting reports on which cookie recipes you should chill before baking and which ones you shouldn’t. Sometimes I don’t have time to chill the dough or just don’t want to so I’m pleased to announce that this is a NO CHILL recipe that is easy to make.

After you make these Hot Chocolate Cookies, there are a few other cookie recipes you need to try.

Funfetti Cheesecake Cookies

Dark Chocolate Peanut Butter Toffee Cookies

Soft Baked Peanut Butter Chocolate Swirl Cookies

  • Like I said, no need to chill this recipe. I find that the hot chocolate cookies come out perfectly if you don’t chill the dough. You can if you want to though. You do you.
  • DO NOT USE SUGAR FREE HOT COCOA MIX! This is a very important as the sugar free mix will change the taste of the cookies and not in a good way.
  • Carefully stir the Mallow Bits into the dough as not to crush them.
  • If you can’t find the Kraft Mallow Bits at Target or Walmart, just substitute for either these Coffee Topping Dehydrated Marshmallows or these Dehydrated Marshmallows.
