Christina Fairman

Christina lives in Northwest Illinois with her husband, daughter, and two English Springer Spaniels. Before becoming a reluctant stay-at-home mom, she worked in a variety of customer-service-oriented jobs while dreaming of living in the lap of luxury as a housewife. Unfortunately, having a child threw a wrench in Christina's plan to do nothing but eat bonbons while lounging in the Jacuzzi reading all day. Now, she spends her time looking for fun activities and crafts for her daughter and easy-to-prepare meals for her family, while trying not to land the kid in therapy when she grows up. Christina volunteers at her local library, and does both volunteer and paid work as a sexuality educator. She loves to read, and to learn about--and share--new products and resources.

Fortunately, she has …

Okay. I need you take a minute and watch this video. Literally—it’s 97 seconds long. I’ll wait. Oh, and make sure you have sound on. So. I have some thoughts. What the hell is wrong with our society?! Why are we making teachers watch a first-person shooter shooting at children?! Shooting at terrified, cowering, screaming …

If you spend any amount of time checking out parenting blogs on the Internet (which you obviously do—hi there, Reader!), you’ve probably heard about the book Good Night Stories for Rebel Girls, which came out at the end of 2016. The book is written by Francesca Cavallo and Elena Favilli, founders of Timbuktu Magazine, the …

My daughter attends an International Baccalaureate (IB) school. (We love it and so does she!) One of the primary aims of an IB program is to develop “internationally minded” global citizens, and to that end, the school just hosted a Holiday Traditions Around the World series. For the series, folks who were from, have lived …
